Served as home for about 7 decades...

Madhwa Hostel, Mysuru, was established in 1956 by His Holiness Sri Sri Vishweshathirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejawar Mutt to serve the needs of Brahmin students pursuing their education in the city. Since its inception, the hostel has nurtured and supported over 2,500 students.

Swamiji's vision extended far beyond providing mere accommodation. He sought to create a home away from home—a place where students could live in an environment that encouraged the continued practice of our rituals, the preservation of our rich traditions and culture, and the pursuit of education with peace of mind and moral grounding.

The Need for Renovation

However, the beloved building that has served generations now stands worn with time and is no longer suited to meet the needs of future students. Recognising this, His Holiness Sri Sri Vishwaprasannatirtha Swamiji, the present pontiff of Sri Pejawar Mutt, has envisioned a noble plan to rebuild the hostel.

The new facility will blend modern amenities with the timeless values and traditions that define the institution.

Continuing the Vision

This vision continues to flourish through the students who wholeheartedly participate in daily prayers, Sandhyavandane, weekly bhajans, and the celebration of festivals in their traditional spirit. Beyond nurturing spiritual and cultural values, the hostel also encourages holistic growth through annual sports meets, creative competitions, and the eagerly anticipated Hostel Day festivities.

Over the decades, the values nurtured within these walls have shaped distinguished alumni who have excelled in diverse fields—ranging from software and public administration to medicine, academia, and many more—carrying forward the legacy of the hostel with pride.
